8TH ANNUAL COLORADO EGGFEST
Big Green Eggs® Will Grill, Smoke, Roast, and Bake to Create a Mouthwatering Feast
Food Drive Will Support the Sister Carmen Community Center
Saturday, August 18th, 9 am – 3 pm

On Saturday, August 18th, Mountain High Appliance will host the 8th Annual Colorado EGGfest, an event that celebrates the Big Green Egg® cooking phenomenon. An annual event that has a cult following and draws folks from across the country and state, nearly thirty grilling masters and “EGGheads” will be grilling, smoking, and baking an extensive array of foods from vegetables and meats to breads, fruits, and desserts.

The event, which begins at 9 a.m., will feature demonstrations, delicious food fresh off Big Green Eggs, beverages, live music, discounts on the EGGs and “EGGcessories,” prize drawings and a Kid’s Corner with fun activities.

The idea of the EGGfest began in 1998, when Big Green Egg wanted to thank their loyal customers who regularly chatted and shared recipes and experiences. This resulted in the Annual EGGtoberfest, which is held in October in Atlanta. The success of this event has since sparked the interest of “EGGheads,” Big Green Egg devotees who share an unbridled passion and enthusiasm for the product. Today, there is a growing number of EGGfests that are held across the nation throughout the summer months.

Mountain High Appliance is proud to be chosen to host the Colorado EGGfest outside of their main showroom at 1130 Pine Street in Louisville.

For those who sign up before August 3rd, tickets are only $15 per person or $20 per couple; children under the age of 12 are free. Tickets are available at the door for $20 per person or $30 per couple. To register online, please visit www.mountainhighappliance.com/colorado-eggfest/. Contact Barbara at 303-951-0524 or barbara@mountainhighappliance.com for more information.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to support the Sister Carmen Community Center, a Family Resource Center servicing East Boulder County. For those who bring a non-perishable or canned food donation, an extra raffle ticket will be entered for a chance to win a variety of culinary delights! Items that the Sister Carmen Community Center is most in need of includes canned tuna, canned chicken, canned fruit, juice, baby formula and canned/boxes pastas.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE BIG GREEN EGG?

In the early 1970s, Ed Fisher first tasted incredibly moist and flavorful food prepared in an Oriental kamado cooker. Fisher instantly knew this was a special product and came up with an idea for a charcoal-fueled barbecue grill based on the ancient cooking concept. He envisioned it being versatile enough to grill, smoke and bake. His new grill was shaped like a large egg and he was inspired to paint it green and give it a whimsical and memorable name that he thought would ensure consumer appeal and assist in marketing the new product — The Big Green Egg. He began selling the unusual barbecue from a small store in a suburban Atlanta shopping center.

Thirty years and a million EGGs later, the product is still largely sold by the philosophy of “seeing (and in this case, tasting) is believing.” Individual product demos and word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied owners are still at the core of Big Green Egg’s success. “It is rather amazing that we’ve been able to take a cooking concept virtually unknown in the U.S. and catapult it to one of the most talked-about grilling and smoking products in the country.”

Why the Big Green Egg? “Fantastic food anytime,” Fisher says simply. “The Big Green Egg is so well insulated and practically impervious to the elements that even in cold, windy or rainy weather you can still grill, roast, bake or smoke in it. And the results are moister, juicier and more flavorful than anything you could ever achieve on a gas grill or even a metal charcoal grill.”

Celebrating its 19th year, Mountain High Appliance has one of Colorado’s largest showrooms located in Louisville with over 12,000 square feet of displays. Fourteen beautiful, live kitchens provide consumers with a unique “try before you buy” experience. The staff at Mountain High Appliance is committed to sharing over 300 years of combined experience to assist customers in finding the appliances that fit their needs and kitchens. Open seven days a week, Mountain High Appliance offers more brands than any store in Colorado and provides customers with everything from cooking classes to professional delivery and certified installation.

A few weeks ago the National Kitchen and Bath Association released the top trends from the 2012 NKBA Design Competition. One trend in particular that came out of the competition is traditional technology in non-traditional spaces.

With this trend, you may start out with an appliance, which is a traditional item, however, you would install it in a unique way that would result in solving a large design challenge. For example, this kitchen had many inflexible obstacles of plumbing, venting, and openings, which were not to be moved.

Photo via nkba.org

The solution was to have fridge drawers integrated and incorporated into the sleek and clean lines of the cabinetry and the overall space. Where the sink plumbing used to be there is now a steam oven. The technology in this kitchen is neatly tucked away while offering a solid functional solution to space challenges.

Are you currently looking for a clever way to integrate new appliances into your kitchen?

When it comes to selecting appliances and placing them during a kitchen renovation, would you ever consider an appliance wall? Many homeowners see an appliance wall as more tidy and neat, but in reality, how functional is it?

Photo via Houzz.com

If put at the end of a kitchen, the appliance wall is very unobtrusive. If you choose to have a tall wall station, it makes efficient use of the kitchen space. However, an appliance wall may not be the best option for some families. For example, if you are remodeling your mountain kitchen to accommodate aging in place, having to reach over head is not recommended.

But it you prefer your kitchen to be more streamlined and create a “work horse” station where all major cooking tasks can be done with the least amount of steps, an appliance wall could be just what you need.

Have questions about what appliances should work best in your home’s appliance wall? Stop by the Mountain High Appliance showroom in Louisville, Colorado. One of our experienced sales members will be happy to help you.

That’s quite an astounding number if you think about it. The report also goes further into the statistics of home improvement and states that on average, 58 percent plan to remodel indoors and 35 percent plan to remodel outdoors. And more than likely the rooms that will be remodeled are indoor kitchens and outdoor living spaces that may also include a kitchen.

So it is not surprising that 28 percent of all homeowners doing these home renovations in 2012 plan on buying appliances, and on average, plan to spend around $705. However, the percentage is higher among affluent homeowners. 34 percent of affluent homeowners doing home improvement in 2012 plan to buy appliances. Their average planned spending budget is $1195.

If you live in the Denver area and are starting plans for your 2012 home improvements, don’t forget about the appliances. At Mountain High Appliance in Louisville, Colorado, we can provide you with all the appliances you need no matter what your budget.
